DoubleDuo feat. AlKhatib-Allami-Hbeisch-Piccioni
Innovative, energetic and playful, DoubleDuo is a new project created by London based oud player Khyam Allami, with highly respected Palestinian oud player Ahmad Al-Khatib, extraordinary percussionist Youssef Hbeisch and Italian frame drum master Andrea Piccioni.
Commissioned by Making Tracks, these two duos of oud and percussion will present original repertoire and arrangements developed especially for this project. Using the Maqam modal system as a basis, DoubleDuo combine their breathtaking instrumental skills through sensitive, dynamic improvisations, infusing the soulful, melancholic beauty of Arabic classical performance with a myriad of rich musical influences.
From delicate interlocking nuances to high-energy improvised flourishes, it is a pure display of inspiring communication and world-class musicianship.
