Young Vic Theatre Presents:

In the Penal Colony

Kafka's terrifying and unforgettable classic retold.

Far away in a remote prison camp, a man unaware of his crime is about to be strapped into an elaborate execution device. The Executioner shows no mercy but will The Visitor intervene?

After a triumphant run of I Am Yusuf and This is My Brother at the Young Vic last year, director Amir Nizar Zuabi and the ShiberHur Theatre Company return with their latest powerful and provocative production direct from Palestine.

The exceptional cast includes one of Palestine’s most respected actors Makram J. Khoury (Spielberg’s Munich; The West Wing), celebrated actor and playwright Taher Najib and Amer Hlehel, who makes a return to the Young Vic after his acclaimed performance in I Am Yusuf and This Is My Brother.

Performed in Arabic, with English subtitles.

Part of Shubbak: A Window on Contemporary Arab Culture, a festival presented by the Mayor of London, from 4-24 July 2011.
