Spotlight on Syria with Missak Baghboudarian

 A welcoming celebration for Missak Baghboudarian, Principal Conductor of the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, on the first day of his visit to London. Missak is here, supported by the British Council, to observe how the major UK orchestras operate in all aspects of their work.

Missak Baghboudarian will be in conversation with Peter Wiegold and Oliver Butterworth, directors of the Brunel Institute for Contemporary Middle Eastern Music. They will be joined by the young Syrian pianist, Riyad Nicolas, currently a pupil at London's Royal Academy of Music, who will perform pieces by Dia Succari and Zaid Jabri.
