The Arab British Centre mourns the loss of long-standing board member Jamil Bullata

Jamil Ballata

It is with great sadness that we learnt about the death of long-standing member of the Arab British Centre board, accountant and life-long server of the Palestinian cause, Jamil Bullata.

Our beloved trustee, Brian Constant, shares a few lines in tribute to Jamil Bullata.

Jamil Bullata was part of The Arab British Centre board for twelve years. He was one of the few Palestinians on the board in the early days. It was mainly British and Arab members from other countries at the time. He was the finance guru.  He would always prepare the accounts before the audits.

Jamil was a very soft-spoken and gentle man. It was difficult to get him to be outspoken. He wouldn’t criticise people who should be criticised at the time. He was too gentle to do that. Jamil did not only serve as an accountant to our board but he was also a board member of Friends of Birzeit University and helped many other charities. Brian doesn’t know any Palestinian organisation or charity where he was not involved. He was highly thought of, very conscientious and highly respected. He retired due to ill health a few years ago.

It is a great honour to have had such a highly respectable and committed man as Jamil Bullata on the board of the Arab British Centre. We would like to praise his dedication to the centre and to the Palestinian cause and to extend our condolences to his family. It is with deep sadness that we mourn his loss.

Please, find below the details of Jamil Bullata’s funeral.
