OFFSCREEN EXPEDITIONS: JOURNEY TO SAUDI ARABIA

Film 03: Pilgrimage to Makkah

With the Hajj exhibition taking place in the British Museum right now, Awais shares his account of what it felt like travelling from the UK to perform Umrah.

Arabia Offscreen, an international creative competition attracted more than 500 entries from talented young artists, designers, film-makers, and photographers, aged 18-25, in the United Kingdom, Egypt, Malaysia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

The winning team traveled around Saudi Arabia to create an artistic portrait of the Kingdom to be shared with youth audiences from around the world. From the mountains of Aseer to the new cities rising out of the desert, the young artists were given unprecedented access to one of the most fascinating and inspiring cultures in the world.
