Classes at the ARAB BRITISH CENTRE
Arabic Calligraphy Classes

We hold regular introductory courses of Arabic calligraphy at the Arab British Centre, taught by Mustafa Ja'far. The aims of the courses are to teach the Naskh script and aid understanding of the development of Arabic writing, whilst increasing knowledge and appreciation of this traditional art form.
About the tutor:
Mustafa Ja’far is a graphic designer and Arabic letterer, who studied in Baghdad and Rome. He has lectured and taught at a number of institutions including the British Museum and Birkbeck College, University of London. In 2002, he was the author of Arabic Calligraphy: Naskh Script for Beginners, and in April-May 2004 he held an exhibition of contemporary Arabic calligraphy at the British Museum. His most recent exhibition was held in June 2008 in London and was entitled ‘Black Words In Red Ink’.

Arabic Language Classes

We also offer regular Arabic language classes, mostly aimed at beginners or those wishing to attain basic skills. The beginners' courses give an introduction to Arabic pronunciation, culture and etiquette.
See our events page for forthcoming courses.
