UN Covered

30 September '17 at 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Arts Canteen & Joon Dance presents (UN) Covered.

Clothes can be armor, art work, identity, conformity, protection or rebellion!

Made between the UK and Egypt, (Un)Covered is a solo dance theatre action exploring who we are as women inside our clothes.

(UN) Covered advocates against the violent control placed on women’s bodies via the clothes they wear. It explores how these issues connect us all, across borders and transcending cultural difference.

Contemporary dance artist Zosia Jo explores her experiences of living in Egypt and in the UK as a woman, the prejudice she encountered in both places and within herself. This is her reaction, and her solution.

Zosia Jo trained at The Place and Northern School of Contemporary Dance. She also has training in drama, as well as psychotherapy and counselling. Zosia has taught extensively across the UK and abroad. Her choreographic work is aimed at engaging and embodying audiences of all ages and she directs Joon Dance, a company aimed at developing dance for and with communities.
