{Un}Told Stories – From the Arab World

A series of film screenings followed by Q&A

15th February – 7th March 2018

Curated by Fortunata CALABRO and Toufik DOUIB

{Un}told Stories is a series of projections and discussions on current issues from the North Africa and the Middle East, some of which have received little attention, either unrecognized or censored within the global media landscape.

While the artists and video-makers come from different background and parts of the world, either local, Diaspora or Western, their short documentaries, fictions and video installations all connect to the human condition in today’s complex geopolitical societies in Arab countries, where often there is no room for expression on issues that affect rights of its people, and the answer is often a passive complicity within mass observers. More than ever, the storytelling sets every character as a passenger within crucial time and space. Whether from a warzone, a no man’s land or an abandoned building, each film will shed light on places and zones that witnessed or engendered a life-changing moment for the narrators and, ultimately, their protagonists too.
