Senses of Yemen is a long-term initiative by Mabrouklyn dedicated to preserving and promoting Yemeni heritage through immersive experiences centred around the five senses: sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.
This June (1st-30th), Mabrouklyn is taking up residency to continue its research on and creative engagement with Yemen’s material culture through extraordinary collections of artefacts and photography.
As part of Senses of Yemen’s mission to make Yemeni culture more accessible, a curated exhibition will run throughout the month (open to the public from 5th June 2025), introducing audiences to the project, its collectors, and Yemen’s rich heritage. Over the residency, Mabrouklyn will also develop a diverse programme of collaborative events held in parallel to the exhibition, including storytelling sessions, talks, workshops, coffee tasters, film screenings, and more. Mabrouklyn will release further updates about those open to the public as they are confirmed.
Your support will help sustain Senses of Yemen and expand its community reach, allowing Mabrouklyn to tour its heritage programme beyond London to Yemeni diaspora communities often under-served by the heritage sector.
