A Celebration of the Traditional Arts

Join an inspiring panel of contemporary artists on an exploration of the lineage and endurance of traditional arts. Including ceramics, calligraphy and plasterwork, learn about techniques and materials, the creative process, and how handcrafted art can resonate with others.

The evening will include:
Live demonstrations of plasterwork, tile decorating and Arabic calligraphy.
Opportunities to talk directly with the artists as they highlight artwork of special significance for them in Leighton House.
An artist-led panel discussion and screenings of the ‘Hands of Time’ films which follow the journeys of four artists and graduates of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo, including ceramicist Esraa Badawy, who joins the event from Cairo.

Useful Information:
Doors open at 6pm to meet the artists and enjoy live plasterwork, tile decorating and calligraphy demonstrations.
Screenings and Panel Discussion from 7pm.
Refreshments available for purchase throughout the evening.
