Friday Hangout: MENA Arts UK Takeover #3 with Amir El-Masry

5 March '21 at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Our Friday Hangouts are back! But this time, we’re handing over the reins to our friends at MENA Arts UK…

Our Friday Hangout talk series is back, this time in partnership with MENA Arts UK. This “Hangout Takeover” will focus on platforming MENA+ (Middle East, North Africa and surrounding area) professionals working in the live and recorded arts, inviting guests to discuss their work and answer live questions from the public in an informal setting via Zoom.

The third Takeover guest is Amir El-Masry, an award winning British Egyptian actor who has most recently been named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit and earned a Best Actor nomination for his lead performance in the critically acclaimed feature film, Limbo. Born in Cairo, raised in London, he made his screen debut in Ramadan Mabrouk Abu El Alamein Hamouda where he won Best Young Actor at the Egyptian Oscars.

Chatting with Amir will be Laura Hanna, a multidisciplinary performer and creative who recently performed in A History of Water in the Middle East at The Royal Court. Hailing from the same drama school, Laura and Amir first worked together on a production of The Arabian Nights for Radio 4 in 2015 and eagerly await the day they will be cast as siblings or cousins.

Register on Zoom to join the conversation!
