An event run by author and journalist Rana Haddad
Rana Haddad’s unusual first novel about love and breaking the rules is not only an entertaining social and political satire but also a dazzling love story set in 1970s-90s Syria during the reign of Hafez Al-Assad, told from the point of view of Dunya Noor, a curly haired anti-establishment figure who does all the things a girl like her is not supposed to do! Haddad will read from her novel and a discussion will follow about how and why love is the most underrated form of resistance in a rigid authoritarian social and political system.
