Political cartoonist Mohammad Sabaaneh leads a linocut workshop inspired by the prints of Mohammad Omar Khalil. Sabbaneh will introduce the technique of linocut and provide advice throughout the making process. The participants are invited to respond to Khalil’s exhibition Homeland Under My Nails – Selected prints 1964-present by exploring the aesthetics of the colour black and by experimenting with print as a multilayered and rich medium.
The workshop takes place from 12pm – 4pm, tools and materials are included in the workshop cost.
Mohammad Sabaaneh is a cartoonist and member of the International Cartoon Movement. His works are published in many Arabic newspapers such as Al-Haya Al-Jadeja as well as in other print media besides his first book with Saqi. In addition, Sabaaneh gave lectures about the art of caricature at universities worldwide such as Visual Art School University in New York and Exeter University. The cartoonist won many graphics awards including the third place at the Arabic Caricature Contest in 2013.
