A Tatreez Circle led by Najlaa Jarbou – a space to slow down, reflect and step into the ancestral rituals. All materials provided.
Join us this Refugee Week on Monday 15 June for a Tatreez Circle led by Najlaa Jarbou – a space to slow down, reflect and step into the ancestral rituals of our Palestinian grandmothers.
Whether you’re completely new to Tatreez or already familiar with the craft, you are welcome exactly as you are. All materials, guidance, and encouragement will be provided so you can take your first stitch — or perhaps complete your first panel — while sharing warm, meaningful conversation with others walking the same path.
This circle is more than a workshop; it is a chance to sit in community, root into tradition, and feel held by a lineage of Palestinian women whose hands created beauty from resilience. This is a space to reconnect with yourself, with one another, and with a cultural legacy carried through thread, heart, and history.
Najlaa Jarbou is a London-based Tatreezer, born and raised in Syria as a Palestinian refugee from a family that originated from Yaffa.
She first learned the art of Tatreez at the age of 10 and her connection to the craft never faded. She founded “Wanas”—an Arabic word describing the soul-soothing comfort of being in good company. Wanas is a community space centred around meaningful connection through Tatreez, food, and culture.
