Celebrating 100yrs of Timeless Wisdom

In 2023, it’s the 100th anniversary of the Prophet, one of the best selling books of all times.
To mark this important anniversary, Colet House will host a theatrical performance composed of readings, music and dance. It has been put together by Gibran Associates a newly formed group of actors, musicians and dancers, all of whom have been inspired by Gibran’s masterpiece.

The Prophet has sold nine million copies in the UK alone and worldwide sales are over 100 million.
The work has been translated into over 100 languages worldwide. Since it was published in 1923, The Prophet has never been out of print.

The story of Almustafa’s departure from Orphalese to the isle of his birth, which is at the heart of the Prophet, is threaded through with exquisite poetic responses to questions raised over core human/philosophical issues concerning Love, Death, Marriage, Joy and Sorrow, Beauty, Children, Law, Crime and Punishment, Reason and Passion as well as many more key subjects.

We feel this 100 year anniversary makes this the perfect time to re-introduce its wisdom and beauty to new audiences.
