‘Thread of Light’ is a two week group art exhibition, a combination of colour, light and creativity inspired by the Middle East and North Africa. From the 17th to the 31st May 2017, Iraqi born artist and curator Asmaa Alanbari showcases artwork with heritage or interest in the Middle East at P21 Gallery London. She brings together artists of different languages and religions in a selection of stimulating work subverting the stereotypes often associated with the region. Going beyond the usual clichés of war and conflict depicting the region she demonstrates that, “the Middle East is full of exciting contrasts and subtle nuances”. Alanbari offers the public a selection of works that playfully and poetically address their unexpected topics of interest, thereby shedding some light on the often oversimplified cultures of the region.
