Since 2008, The Arab British Centre has prided itself in providing the general public with Arabic language classes at varying levels. In 2010, our current teacher, Ibrahim Othman joined us and we’ve never looked back!
In 2009, we began offering Arabic calligraphy classes and these were so popular that they’ve continued until today! In 2014 we welcomed a brand-new take on the beautiful artistic subject with a specialised course in creative calligraphy with artist/designer Joumana Medlej.
2014 also brought with it another new venture, in music! Taqasim Music School were looking for a space to host their lessons and we were happy to partner with them. So far, the most established classes are with the Oud. But note, they’re super popular so if you want to learn, get in there quick!
In 2016 we were lucky enough to meet Islamic Art expert Roberta Marin, who designed a new range of specialized and fascinating courses including: Introduction to Islamic Art and Architecture, Islamic Art and Architecture in Central Asia and Iraq, Islamic Art in the Mediterranean and The History of Carpets from the Islamic World.
