An Evening with Elif Shafak: East, West and Global Souls

14 August '17 at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Elif Shafak, the award-winning novelist and the most widely read female writer in Turkey, is one of today’s most respected public intellectuals and cultural commentators. An inspirational public speaker, Elif blends Western and Eastern traditions of storytelling, bringing out the voices of women, minorities, subcultures, immigrants and global souls. Defying cliches and transcending boundaries her works draw on different cultures and cities, and reflects a strong interest in history, philosophy, culture, mysticism, intercultural dialogue and gender equality. In this special evening, through a combination of lecture, conversation and a time of questions, Elif will focus on the way forward in the midst of today’s challenges as being one of building bridges, not walls.
