The next Banipal Book Club meeting will be back at Rosetta Stone Bookshop in Hammersmith. We will be discussing ‘Frankenstein in Baghdad’ by Iraqi author, Ahmed Saadawi and we will be joined by the novel’s award-winning translator, Jonathan Wright.
“A vengeful ghoul, stitched together from the body parts of the dead, appears in Baghdad” (The Spectator). ‘Frankenstein in Baghdad’ is a reimagining of Mary Shelley’s original novel, set in US-occupied Baghdad. It is “part thriller, part horror, part social commentary” (The Guardian). The novel won the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2014 and has been longlisted for the 2018 Man Booker International Prize.
If you mention Banipal Book Club at Rosetta Stone Bookshop you can get a 20% off the book.
