We are pleased to have ‘Baghdad in My Shadow’, a film about an Iraqi community living in London, as part of the 8th edition of Screening Rights Film Festival, the festival in the West Midlands that specialises in film human rights issues. ‘Baghdad in My Shadow’ is a fabulous film that exposes the complexities (ethnic, generational, cultural, ideological or religious) and tensions within an Iraqi community in exile, and tackles delicate themes rarely seen in cinema of the Arab world such as sexuality, adultery or radicalisation.

The film will be preceded by I Dream, an evocative essayistic short film by Zahraa Ghandour and Tarek Turkey, and followed by a panel discussion with directors and experts on the themes of the film.
