Corridors of Power, Exhibition by Eman Ali

21 September '17 at 5:30 pm - 29 September '17 at 7:00 pm

The Anglo-Omani Society is proud to host an exhibition by Omani artist, Eman Ali

A Preview of this exhibition is to take place 21 September 17.30 – 20:00.
Continues until 29 September 2017. Open Mondays to Fridays, 12:00– 19:00.

Ali’s work centres on the grand development projects that have come to fruition in Oman at the turn of the century. Focusing on an architectural style that could be described as minimalist neo-islamic modernism, these monumental places command power and beauty, but lack a fixed identity. In response to these new and highly theatrical public spaces of appearance, Ali explores the relationship between her body and the architecture and what they signify about the future of the Sultanate of Oman.

Corridors of Power comprises photography, light, found objects and traditional silverware from The Anglo-Omani Society’s own collection. At 6pm, there will be a unique opportunity to hear Ali speak about the exhibition and her work more broadly, her deep connection with Oman, the working context of a female artist from the Gulf region and more.

To register for the opening night or book a time to see the exhibition please email rsvp@angloomanisociety.com.
