Exploring geometric architecture through ceramics

29 April '23 at 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

We have developed 12 different kits, rooted in Middle Eastern architecture, where participants can learn about architecture, geometry and ceramics at the same time while using some Box O Fun tools that make the whole process easier.

In this series of online workshops, you will learn about how:

– how geometric design has been used in architecture in the Middle East
– how to use clay at home without a kiln
– how to create your own series of geometric tiles at home
– how you can use geometry in designing ceramics
– using tools developed by Layla to make this easier for you

This online workshop will be taught by Layla Hashim, the founder of Box O Fun. Layla is from a family of well-known geometric carpenters in the Middle East. She has been been working in ceramics for six years, focussing on translating geometric patterns into porcelain. Layla is currently developing a range of functional and decorative ceramics and furnishings inspired by her cultural heritage. Layla has lived in various cities around the UK, but now lives in Stoke-on-Trent.
