Morocco’s submission to the 2023 Academy Awards, Maryam Touzani’s The Blue Caftan follows master tailor Halim (Saleh Bakri) and his wife Mina (Lubna Azabal) who run a traditional caftan store in one of Morocco’s oldest medinas. When they hire a talented young man as an apprentice, Halim struggles to hide his attraction.
