Friday Hangout #6 with Youssef Kerkour

1 May '20 at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Join us at our sixth Friday Hangout, this time co-hosted by actor Youssef Kerkour! Our Friday Hangout series brings together people interested in Arab culture for an online chat over their lunch breaks, wherever they may be currently ‘locked down’ in the world.

Youssef Kerkour is a veteran stage actor and member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, who has worked prolifically on both sides of the Atlantic and across three continents. He is most well known for portraying Syrian asylum seeker Sami in the Channel 4 series “Home” (available to watch for free now on All 4), a comedy which deftly gets to the essence of home and family through his character’s relationship with a British family. For this role, he has received a Royal Television Society nomination and Press Guild Award nomination. He has also recently featured in Iraq-based detective series “Baghdad Central”, and in “Dracula”, both on the BBC, as well as playing a diverse array of other roles across numerous genres.

Originally from Morocco and fluent in 4+ languages, he is also an award-winning stage actor, with ten plays to date for the Royal Shakespeare Company and a wealth of other hit plays in the West End and beyond.

We’re really looking forward to chatting to Youssef about his experiences as an actor and learning more about his journey up to now!
