Juliana Yazbeck Album Launch: Sungod/بعل – Part of Arab Women Artists Now

8 March '18 at 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm

Lebanese artist Juliana Yazbeck emerged on the London music scene in 2016 and has since carved a solid identity and signature sound, fusing Lebanese aural traditions with soul and hip hop poetry.

Her debut album SUNGOD/بعل takes us deeper inwards, introducing atmospheric electronic minimalism to the mix. To celebrate #InternationalWomensDay, Juliana will perform the full-length album on the 8th of March.

The album is a collaboration with Palestinian-Jordanian producer El Jehaz الجهاز and features artists such as Cassandre Balbar on woodwind, Walaa Sbait on tabel, and Alexis Kraniou on guitar, among others.

SUNGOD/بعل is an equal blend of English and Arabic lyrics, as Juliana weaves her poetry into a new world that calls on the Old Gods as well as the new, in a journey to rediscover our identity before Westernisation: as women, as Arabs, and as autonomous peoples.
