KAN YA MAKAN, which translates from Arabic to ‘once upon a time’, weaves personal anecdotes and memories of the Middle Eastern Cultural Group with traditional elements from Middle Eastern interiors and design. Through sound, taste, smell and visuals, the final interactive installation will illustrate the journeys that members of the group have been on, from the Middle East to Milton Keynes.
The project was made in partnership with artist Leen Kay and the Middle Eastern Cultural Group (MECG) in the Spring and Summer of this year. Commissioned by the Arts and Heritage Alliance Milton Keynes, and funded by Milton Keynes Community Foundation, the project aims to build new relationships between the MECG and local arts and heritage organisations.
