Preparing to Learn Arabic with Jacob Halpin

19 May '20 at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Join us at an online event offering advice to those thinking about, or new to, learning Arabic!

Jacob Halpin is the author of newly-published Thirteen Ways to Make a Plural: Preparing to Learn Arabic, designed to help new students make a success of learning Arabic.

In this session, he will be talking about all those issues that new Arabic learners typically grapple with. These include deciding on the type of Arabic that suits your needs; setting realistic goals, whatever level you’re aiming for, and designing a plan to achieve them; focusing on the grammar that matters most; practical study hints and tips; and advice on studying abroad.

Jacob is a British diplomat who learned Arabic with the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, studying at the School of Oriental and African Studies and at language centres in Jordan and Lebanon. He has been posted in Baghdad, Beirut, and Amman, and is now based in London.

At the end of the event, the Arab British Centre team will also be on hand to answer any questions that prospective students may have about their own Levantine Spoken Arabic Courses.
