Organised in partnership with Multilingual Manchester, this session will be an opportunity for budding translators – or those with a passion for working between languages – to learn more about the life of the literary translator and discover ways of getting yourself published!

Join Comma Press for a special talk by award-winning writer, editor and translator Daniel Hahn on why literary translation matters. Exploring the joys and challenges of working as a translator, this talk will be an opportunity to find out more about the art of translation and why translators are at the vanguard of literary change.

PANEL: Routes into Literary Translation

11am–12pm

How does a publisher choose a translator? What qualities and experience are most valued? How does an emerging translator get their first contract to translate a book? Join a panel of expert translators and publishers as they discuss what tools you’ll need to break into the industry.
