Music Session | Sound and Solidarity

11 November '21 at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Explore solidarity through sound and contribute to a collective playlist in this listening session presented by Sound Advice. Each participant will be invited to pick a song and an artefact to share with the group to start the conversation. In the gathering, participants will use music to help articulate their approach to challenging colonialism and offering solidarity.

How do you encounter colonised/decolonised structures and systems in everyday life? What songs/sounds are associated with those moments?

Sound Advice suggest ‘Listening to music collectively will create an immaterial space for everyone to share personal experience and cultivate a space for solidarity.’

The discussion will be audio recorded, and the transcript of the recording and the playlist will be produced as a zine. This Sound & Solidarity Zine will be sold with profits donated to charities working to dismantle colonial structures in the Arab world.
