Recent Egyptian History Through Personal Eyes: Book Signing and Presentation by Mohamed Salmawy

The Egyptian Bureau for Cultural & Education Affairs is pleased to announce and invite you to the upcoming event:

Monday 19th August at 7:00pm: “Recent Egyptian History through Personal Eyes”, Presentation and Book Signing by the renowned Mr. Mohamed Salmawy who will be presenting two of his recent books; the much celebrated autobiography “A Day or Just About”, and the outstanding novel that is recognised as the novel predicted the events of 2011 “Butterfly Wings”. Mr Salmawy will be receiving questions in English or Arabic (presentation in English).

Mr. Mohamed Salmawy is a prominent Egyptian writer widely recognized throughout the Arab World. He was a long time President of the Writers Union in Egypt, Secretary General of both the Arab Writers Union and the African Asian Writers Union. He is the author of more than 30 books ranging from creative writing to political and cultural topics. He is a syndicated columnist in a number of leading newspapers and his literary works have been widely translated.

Throughout his extensive career, Mohamed Salmawy held a number of posts, including Undersecretary of State for Culture, Assistant Minister of Information, Editor in Chief of Al-Ahram Hebdo Newspaper, and Chairman of the Editorial Board of Al-Masry Al-Youm Newspaper. He was also a member of the Committee of fifty entrusted with writing Egypt’s constitution in 2014 and was voted unanimously as the Committee’s official spokesman.
