SAFAR Film Festival 2018: Still Burning

15 September '18 at 6:00 pm

STILL BURNING/Nar Min Nar + Q&A with director Georges Hachem and curator Joseph Fahim

Georges Hachem | Lebanon | 2016 | 110 min

Amid shooting his latest production, a stranger emerges in the life of André, a successful Lebanese filmmaker living and working in France. Cinema is not the only the link between André and the stranger, Walid, but women from their distant past in Beirut. Secrets gradually emerge, as the scars of the Civil War resurface. A film within a film starring award-winning Lebanese/Canadian playwright Wajdi Mouawad of Incendies fame as the film’s central character, the film explores the thin line between reality and fiction; the function of storytelling in times of anxiety as both a meditation on the author’s state of mind as well as a tool for survival.
