Yamam Nabeel: I´m Migrant Ep4 : Faisel Laibi Sahi

This short film is part of Yamam Nabeel´s I´m Migrant project, an ongoing multimedia series. In this deeply personal project, Yamam explores his heritage through interviews, portraits and conversations with exiled Iraqi artists, writers, and intellectuals heritage, illustrating their significant contributions to culture and history.

Faisel Laibi Sahi is an Iraqi painter. He was born in Basra, in Iraq in 1945. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad in 1971. He moved to Paris and completed his studies at the Ecole Des Beaux-Arts and Université de la Sorbonne in Paris in 1974. He lived and practice in France, Italy and Algeria before moving to London in 1991, where he still lives and works.
Other artists part of the I’m Migrant series: Ghani Alani, Afifa Aleiby, Nabeel Yasin, Hassan Massoudy, Dia Azzawi.

Yamam Nabeel is a writer, photographer, and filmmaker, born in Baghdad in Iraq in 1976. They went into exile in 1980. Before moving to London in 1991 where he sill resides and work, Yamam lived in France, war-torn Lebanon, the formers East Germany and Czechoslovakia , and Hungary.
